Supervision for Nevada State Interns

Are You Looking for Clinical Supervision in Nevada?

If you’re a Clinical Professional Counselor Intern (CPC-Intern) or Marriage and Family Therapist Intern (MFT-Intern) in Nevada, you know how important these early professional years are. You’re building your confidence, finding your voice as a therapist, and working toward the 3,000 clinical hours required for licensure.

You might be:

  • Fresh out of graduate school and looking for your first supervisor.
  • Relocating to Nevada and needing state-approved supervision.
  • Seeking a new supervisor who’s responsive, supportive, and aligned with your professional goals.

You’re not just looking for someone to sign paperwork; you want a mentor who creates a safe, welcoming environment where you can learn, ask hard questions, and grow as both a clinician and a person. You want structure, flexibility, and real professional development, not just hour-tracking. If that resonates, you’re in the right place.

Supervision with Dr. Tyler Rich, AAMFT-Approved Supervisor

As an AAMFT-Approved Supervisor, Dr. Tyler Rich provides a supervision experience that is collaborative, structured, and designed for real-world clinical growth.

Supervision is offered both in person and virtually, making it accessible to interns across Nevada.

  • Group Supervision: Two 2-hour group sessions are offered each week.
All state interns—primary and secondary—are invited to attend as many as they’d like
  • Most months, 14 to 18 group hours are available.
  • Primary Supervisees: Receive at least one individual (one-on-one) hour of supervision per month. Most primary interns average around 12 supervision hours monthly.
  • Secondary Supervisees: Average about 6 supervision hours monthly.

To meet Nevada Board requirements:

  • Primary interns typically complete 160 hours of supervision over two years (6.5 hours/month).
To meet the 300-hour total for full licensure within two years, plan for approximately 13 hours/month (combined primary and secondary supervision).

Interns receive their supervision calendar six months in advance, ensuring predictability and ease of planning.

In addition, Dr. Rich offers:

  • Monthly Training Workshops on advanced clinical and professional topics. Topics have included the following: How to build a cash pay private practice, Intro into sex therapy, Working with Couples healing from Infidelity, Intro into Jugain Deam Work, and more.
  • Quarterly Group Outings hosted by the “Fun Committee,” promoting community and connection among supervisees.

Supervision is not just about compliance; it’s a dynamic, professional community designed to help you thrive.

What to Expect: My Supervision Philosophy & Approach

“Supervision is not about checking boxes—it’s about becoming the kind of therapist who trusts their intuition, sits deeply with clients, and practices with heart, integrity, and authenticity.”
Dr. Tyler Rich

My goal as a supervisor is to help you understand yourself, trust your abilities, and utilize your skills effectively in your clinical work. Together, we’ll explore case conceptualization, countertransference, and self-of-the-therapist work in a safe, reflective, and structured environment.

You can expect:

  • Multiple Clinical Lenses: We integrate trauma-informed care, Polyvagal Theory, attachment-based approaches, and depth-oriented frameworks, including exploring archetypes and the unconscious,  to help you understand both individuals and couples more deeply.
  • High Ethical Standards: Supervision includes regular review of AAMFT and ACA Codes of Ethics, as well as Nevada’s NRS (Nevada Revised Statutes) regarding professional conduct, ensuring you practice ethically and confidently.
  • Whole-Person Support: Bring your challenges, emotions, and uncertainties to supervision; it’s a space for growth, not perfection.

Supervision is collaborative and engaging. Dr. Rich regularly reviews live sessions and recorded films with interns (at no extra cost) and supports professional development through marketing and private practice guidance. Documentation (e.g., PARS, session notes, videos) may be reviewed periodically for feedback and growth.

Monthly one-on-one sessions include goal reviews, developmental evaluations, and ethical consultations. This is also your space to give feedback and discuss any interpersonal or ethical concerns.

Supervision Fun Committee

Supervision isn’t just about learning, it’s about connecting. One of the most rewarding parts of joining as a student intern or state intern under Dr. Tyler Rich is the opportunity to network and form meaningful relationships with other developing therapists.

Each internship group has 3 to 4 interns who lead what we affectionately form The Fun Committee. A small team dedicated to planning exciting, community-building events that help everyone unwind, laugh, and bond outside of sessions. These gatherings are all about connection, collaboration, and creating memories together.

Past events have included everything from pizza nights and karaoke to escape rooms and dinners out on the town, and yes, Dr. Rich generously covers most of the cost! These shared experiences create a sense of belonging that extends into supervision sessions, allowing interns to feel safe, supported, and comfortable sharing more authentically with one another.

Dr. Rich’s goal is simple: to help you build not just your clinical skills, but also a strong professional network of trusted peers in the Vegas Valley. Because being a great therapist isn’t only about discussing cases or self-of-the-therapist work, it’s also about surrounding yourself with a community that inspires growth, laughter, and lifelong friendships.
