Hello!!! I’m Dr. Tyler Rich, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, AAMFT-Approved Supervisor, Certified Sex Therapist (AASECT), and Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (IITAP). I founded Richer Life Counseling in 2015 while still in graduate school, with one goal: to help people create deeper, more connected, and more meaningful lives.
My Journey & Background

I grew up in Las Vegas and have always felt deeply connected to this community. From an early age, friends and family came to me for advice and support, and I discovered how meaningful it was to walk with people through life’s hardest moments. Growing up in Green Valley, I always found myself wanting to help others, whether through Boy Scouts, volunteering at church, or supporting my friends in school. When I started at UNLV, I initially thought my path might be in ministry. Still, once I began studying human development and counseling, I realized therapy was where I could make the greatest impact.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in Human Service Counseling, followed by a master’s degree in Marriage, Family, and Child Therapy from the University of Phoenix. During my training, I worked in a variety of clinical settings: from mental health facilities to addiction recovery programs, where I learned that change doesn’t happen just by treating surface-level symptoms. Healing requires depth, compassion, and courage.
While running my practice full-time, I continued my education, completing my PhD in Clinical Sexuality from the Monder Sex Therapy Institute. My doctoral work focused on developing a sex-positive framework for the direct treatment of sex addiction and out-of-control sexual behavior. My goal has always been to move beyond shame-based approaches and help clients rediscover integrity, agency, and wholeness in their sexual lives.
Over the years, I’ve served as the lead therapist in a sexual addiction intensive outpatient program and later created my own, now known as Richer Life Recovery, which provides comprehensive treatment for both individuals and couples. I’ve also developed online programs and educational resources that make healing more accessible to people seeking recovery and growth.
My Approach to Therapy

I believe therapy is most effective when it moves beyond symptom management and into authentic transformation. My work integrates three essential layers of change:
- Behavioral change helps you identify and shift patterns that no longer serve you.
- Emotional awareness, understanding the feelings, shame, and internal conflicts that drive those behaviors.
- Meaning and identity, exploring who you truly are, what you believe about yourself, and how you want to live moving forward.
My therapeutic orientation blends Emotionally Focused Therapy, Jungian / Depth Therapy, and Existential Therapy. Together, these approaches help clients move from reaction to reflection, from fragmentation to integration, and from surviving to thriving.
I especially enjoy working with individuals and couples who are ready to go deep, people who want to not only “feel better” but to become better. Therapy is a shared journey: honest, sometimes messy, and ultimately freeing.
My Specialties
My areas of focus include:
- Sex and pornography addiction / out-of-control sexual behavior
- Sex therapy for individuals and couples
- Healing sexual shame and trauma
- Relationship and intimacy work
- Men’s emotional health and identity development
- LGBTQIA+–affirming therapy and exploration
If you’re facing compulsive sexual behavior or working to rebuild trust in a relationship after betrayal, that’s where I do my deepest work. I developed Richer Life Recovery, a structured, intensive program that helps both individuals and partners navigate recovery with dignity and clarity.
Giving Back: Supervision & Community Work
One of the greatest joys in my professional life is supervision. I’m passionate about mentoring new therapists, and I provide low-cost supervision to interns in Nevada as a way to give back to the community that raised me. Helping early-career clinicians grow their confidence and identity as therapists is something I genuinely love—it’s part of how I invest in the future of mental health care in my hometown.
I also offer low-cost group-level student therapy through Richer Life Counseling. This allows students and community members to access high-quality care at an affordable rate while supporting training opportunities for developing clinicians. For me, this is about creating a sustainable, compassionate cycle of care: helping others learn, heal, and give back in turn.
A Few Things About Me

Outside of the therapy room, I’m a person who loves adventure, creativity, and connection. Some things you might not know about me:
- I have run over 18 marathons and 33 half marathons (and counting).
- I have a Disney tattoo sleeve and a Middle-earth map tattoo on my leg.
- I love all things Disney and go out of my way to infuse fun and imagination into life.
- I grew up in the Green Valley area of Las Vegas.
- I’m a proud Eagle Scout (earned at age 15).
- I’m a lifelong cruiser and Comic-Con attendee.
- I share my life with a wonderful Shiba Inu who keeps me on my toes.
- I’m married to my partner, who also works out of Richer Life Counseling. Building a shared practice with my partner has been one of the most rewarding parts of both my personal and professional journey.
All these details—running, tattoos, Disney, community, partnership—speak to the same values that guide my clinical work: perseverance, creativity, connection, and authenticity.
